Cape May County Prosecutor Jeffrey H. Sutherland and Chief Kevin Lewis of the Lower Township Police Department announced the arrests of Jacob Groff, 31, and Craig Needles, 67, on Wednesday, Oct. 25.
The Cape May County Prosecutor’s Office Gangs, Guns and Narcotics Task Force received information from the Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) Atlantic City Office that Customs and Border Patrol agents at John F. Kennedy Airport intercepted a package originating from the Netherlands and addressed to Jacob Groff which contained ecstasy pills.
On October 25, 2023, a controlled delivery of this package was facilitated by law enforcement.
On this same date, the Cape May County Prosecutor’s Office Gangs, Guns, and Narcotics Task Force, Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), Lower Township Police Department, Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) and the Cape May County Regional SWAT Team executed a court-authorized search warrant on the residence of Jacob Groff and Craig Needles which is located on Osprey Drive in the North Cape May section of Lower Township.
As a result of this search, the following items were seized: Approximately two ounces of ecstasy, over one-half ounce of suspected methamphetamine, a .25 caliber semi-automatic handgun, drug paraphernalia to include a digital scale, various prescription legend drugs, electronic equipment (to include: computers, iPad, cellphones) and $4,081 cash.
Groff and Needles were processed and lodged in the Cape May County Correctional Facility pending Court proceedings.
